The House and Procedure Unit

The House and Procedure business unit has three core functions including supporting the day-to-day operations of the sittings of the Legislative Assembly, providing advice on parliamentary law, procedure and practice to Members of the Legislative Assembly and other stakeholders and providing support to Members of the Legislative Assembly, their staff and visitors to Parliament House.  


About the position

The Senior Parliamentary Officer, Operations and Protocol Coordinator takes a leading role in coordinating logistical issues associated with events and approvals, and liaison between the three departments in relation to the Legislative Assembly Chamber, special events and room management.

The successful candidate will have (or will have the capacity to develop) a thorough knowledge of roles and functions of the Legislative Assembly and the Parliament of NSW, including the policies that govern protocol, room and venue use, and the Chamber galleries. They will demonstrate an ability to manage projects, apply policies, have excellent communication skills, and exercise tact and discretion in all dealings with members and other stakeholders. They will also have good problem-solving skills and the flexibility to work across competing priorities.
