About us

The State Member for the Electorate of North Shore, Ms Felicity Wilson, MP, is seeking a staff member to join her Electorate Office team.  The North Shore Electorate Office is located in the heart of Neutral Bay, where constituents and local community groups can engage with the Member for North Shore regarding state government services.

About the position

The position of the Senior Electorate Officer includes the responsibility for organising the office and providing a high level of support to the Member for North Shore. This includes liaison and negotiation with constituents, Ministerial offices, media, stakeholders and community organisations as well as providing key political strategic advice on areas of portfolio responsibility and issues relevant to the electorate.

Selection criteria:

  1. Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise with community groups, government and non-government organisations, and the media.
  2. Excellent writing skills including the ability to prepare correspondence, briefing notes, submissions, speeches, newsletters and media releases.
  3. Demonstrated superior organisational skills to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgement and ability to perform at a high standard under limited supervision and within a team environment.
  5. Demonstrated ability to undertake responsibility for the day-to-day management of the electorate office and undertake supervisory responsibility of staff.
  6. An interest in, and understanding of, the Australian political context and Australian parliamentary procedures and processes.
  7. Good word processing/keyboard and computer skills in an office environment.
  8. Demonstrated research and analytical skills including the ability to analyse policy and legislation.
