About the role (Ongoing):
The Parliamentary Librarian leads the overall operations of the Parliamentary Library and its specialist teams, setting the strategic direction for services across client support, collections, digital delivery, and records and archives. The role drives continuous improvement, ensures services remain contemporary and impartial, and supports Members of Parliament with accurate, timely and objective information.

The position also provides strong operational and people leadership, fostering a safe and inclusive workplace while managing staff, resources and budgets. The Parliamentary Librarian works to strengthen client engagement across the parliamentary precinct and ensures the Library meets the diverse and evolving information needs of Members and parliamentary officers in a complex, politically sensitive environment.

Based in NSW Parliament, the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is a specialist service department working to support the operation of the Parliament of NSW by providing logistical support and advice to members, the Departments of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly and the people of New South Wales. About you:
You are an experienced senior leader with a strong record of motivating teams and delivering complex projects in library, information, or records management environments. You bring deep knowledge of contemporary library and information systems, strong planning and research capability, and confidence operating with significant autonomy.

You foster a culture of continuous improvement and provide clear guidance on complex or sensitive matters. With strong organisational, resource and stakeholder management skills, you will ensure the Parliamentary Library operates effectively and supports Members with impartial, timely and accurate information

A degree in library and/or information management, or equivalent extensive professional experience, is essential.
